This one simple thing can help keep urinary tract infections at bay

Drinking plenty of water each day may have an unexpected benefit — staving off urinary tract infections, a new study reports.
Young women plagued by UTIs who drank an additional 6 cups of water each day were nearly half — 48 percent — as likely as a control group to have another infection, the study showed.
The water group also reduced their use of antibiotics by roughly half — or 47 percent.
What's more, the amount of time that passed before a woman's next UTI and between recurrent infections was longer in the water group than in the control group.
Women are more prone to UTIs than men, partly due to their anatomy. A shorter urethra makes it easier for bacteria from rectum to enter the vagina and travel to the bladder.
Study author Dr. Thomas Hooton said it's thought that increasing fluid intake decreases UTI risk in two ways: by preventing bacteria from adhering to the bladder and by reducing the overall concentration of bacteria that could cause an infection.

3 Friends Died In 1 Week – No Doubt, Davido Used His Friends For Ritual Purpose – Nigerian Man Speaks

Hmmmm! It’s no news again to us all that Davido is in a big mess and sorry state right now

For a week now, Davido has been on a low key mode due to the fact that he posted only a mourning kind of pictures about his deceased friends.

Well, it was also revealed today in an interview with the late Chime’s sister, where she shed more light on the unclear case saying that late Chime and DJ Olu ate in the same place they visited on last that day before their demise (Read the News here)

So, I was surfing through my Twitter timeline today when I came across a very deep and unappealing tweet about Davido, but as a blogger what more can I do than to put it up so we can discuss and iron things out.

I can bet millions of Nigerians will also have this same opinion believing Davido might know something we all don’t know as death of 3 close friends is quite shocking and strange. I don’t think something of this nature has ever happened in the industry at any point in time.

The anonymous Twitter user…

'Gotham' star Morena Baccarin is living her best NYC life

Like many almost-4-year-olds, Morena Baccarin’s son adores superheroes. So when he overheard someone mentioning Gotham to his mother — as in the city where Batman operates — he had some questions.

Naeem Khan dress, $14,995 at Bergdorf Goodman, 754 Fifth Ave. Sheryl Nields
“You work in Gotham city?” the child asked, eyes wide.

“I guess I do,” she replied.

Gears turned, thoughts processed, pieces clicked into place. His mother, the person who had brought him into the world and cared for him his entire life, suddenly became so much cooler.

For Baccarin, 38, the fictional world is bleeding into the real one more and more these days. A stroll through the streets near her Battery Park home draws double takes from pedestrians — not only do they recognize the actress from her role as Dr. Leslie Thompkins on the Fox show “Gotham,” they also notice the man she’s with: Ben McKenzie, who plays Jim Gordon, her on-again, off-again love interest on the series.

“When they see us together, usually th…

2 dead as gunmen open fire on university staff

Gunmen killed two female employees of a technical university in Ukunda, near Mombasa on Kenya's Indian Ocean coast in a suspected extremist attack, a Kenyan police official said Tuesday.

The assault occurred as President Uhuru Kenyatta campaigned in the coastal region for the rerun of presidential elections later this month.

The gunmen suspected to be al-Shabab rebels from neighboring Somalia sprayed a vehicle carrying university staff and police with bullets near the campus, Larry Kieng, the region's police chief said. Ukunda is 31 kilometers (19 miles) southwest of Mombasa, Kenya's second largest city.

Two women staff members of the university were killed in the attack, said Mwangi Kahiro, acting county commissioner for Kwale County said in a statement.

The attack recalled the April 2, 2015 attack on Garissa University in eastern Kenyan in which four gunmen killed 148 people, most of them students.

Somalia's al-Shabab militia has been carrying out attacks on Kenya a…

Why I no longer show much skills – Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, has revealed why he no longer show much of his skills on the pitch, but rather focuses more on scoring goals.

The forward said that at a certain point in his career, he decided to focus less on showing off his skills because goals are needed to win games and not skills.

The Portugal captain scored 118 in 291 appearances for Manchester United between 2003 and 2009, but drew criticism early on for often attempting fancy step-overs.

But since moving to the Spain capital, Ronaldo has upped his rate considerably and is on 411 goals in 401 outings for the club, while in recent times the winger has often played as a centre-forward.

Ronaldo told YouTube freestyler Soufiane Touzani, that goals had to come ahead of entertaining supporters.

“In a game the most important thing is to win. And goals helps to win. You can mix — first goals, and after tricks and assists after. What the people want is goals, so I try to score goals.”

Ronaldo added that he still…

Man laying on the floor in an attempt to get his money from the bank

There was a mild drama in the Gwagwalada area of the federal capital, Abuja on Friday when a fully grown man laid on the floor of a popular bank over the bankers’ refusal to give him his N5000 stuck with them.

It was gathered that the man who was aggrieved was ready to take his money home and did not seem to care about the people standing by and watching as he kept talking to the people who had the patience to listen, airing his grouses with the bank.

The man said he had not eaten since the time he set foot in the bank. He explained to people watching that he hustled hard to keep the money in his account. After that, the bank officials said the account was blocked for some unknown reason.

This made the man lay on the floor and refused to get up. He kept asking why the bank did not close his account before he deposited money into it.

It is however not know how the man and the bank were finally able to resolve the mat…

North Korea Called Me a ‘War Maniac.’ I Ignored Them, and Trump Should Too.

Smart diplomacy backed by the threat of force, not Twitter bluster, is the way to deal with Kim Jong Un.

The last time events on the Korean Peninsula were in a state of crisis as urgent as what we are experiencing now was in 1994, when President Bill Clinton drew a line by saying the United States would not allow North Korea to develop the enriched plutonium needed to make nuclear bombs—and was prepared to use military force to ensure this did not happen.

The regime in Pyongyang responded by threatening to turn the South Korean capital into a “sea of flames,” and calling the U.S. defense secretary a “war maniac.”

The war maniac was me.

Perhaps the biggest mistake President Trump is making today is conducting a war of words with Kim Jong-un. No one can out-bluster North Korean leaders. They are truly the masters of invective.

A quarter-century of close involvement with the challenge of nuclear deterrence in North Korea leaves me confident that a different approach holds vastly more pr…

The shrine

See What Killed The 25yr-old Bodybuilder, Sam Standerwick

In what will come across as a really tragic development, a bodybuilder has died in his sleep just days before proposing to his girlfriend.
A truly devastated father has told the story of how his ultra-healthy 25-year-old, Sam Standerwick, son died in his sleep just days before he was due to propose to his girlfriend.
According to The Sun UK, Sam Standerwick, from Llanddulas in Conwy, north Wales, returned to his hotel following a night out with pals in Liverpool when he fell asleep and didn’t wake up.
An inquest has now found that he died of heart failure – despite being a healthy young man – because of a 70% blockage in his coronary artery.
Dad Adrian Standerwick, speaking to Wales Online, said: “His heart just didn’t have enough power to keep going and just stopped beating in his sleep.
“We just couldn’t believe it. We had nine weeks to wait for the inquest and it was driving us crazy thinking ‘What is this?’
“Did someone inject him with drugs? Was it a brain aneurysm?
“He had gone…

Congress cowers before the gunmen

Firstcame Harvey, which flooded Houston. Next came Irma, which barreled through the Caribbean and laid waste to Florida. Then came Maria, which hit Puerto Rico like a huge bunker-buster bomb. Earlier an earthquake shook Mexico City and, Sunday night in Las Vegas, more than 50 people were murdered at an outdoor concert — another natural disaster in the timid minds of so many politicians. It will be considered an act of God, albeit by the hand of man, for which prayers will be offered but not, you can bet, remedial legislation.
Mass shootings come and go with the unpredictable regularity of tropical storms. In a nation of millions of gun owners and hundreds of millions of guns, it is always a matter of time before there is a mass killing. Before Las Vegas, there was Orlando (49 killed) and before that Charleston (9) and Roseburg (9) and San Bernardino (14) and Aurora (12) and Newtown (27). In Newtown, 20 of the dead were school children. It was yet another incomprehensible tragedy.

Research discovers muscles work to a biological clock

Human muscles work to a biological clock, new research has discovered.

The body is known to be in sync with an invisible ticker, which controls the release of hormones, the digestive system and other crucial processes that keep us going throughout the day and night.

Now scientists from the University of Bath, the Universite Claude Bernard in Lyon, Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), the University of Surrey and the Nestle Institute of Health Sciences have found that this clock also affects muscles.

It was found that levels of different types of fat (lipids) in our muscle cells can vary throughout the day, with different kinds chosen at different times.

To come to their conclusions, the team tested volunteers, synchronising each subject's master clock by setting them all the same daily eating and sleeping routine a week leading up to the experiment. Researchers would analyse lipid composition in small samples from the thigh muscle tissue every four hours.

These showed…
